HotelTonight – Massachusetts Hotels Wherever You Are

I'm a different kind of traveler. I don't sit and plan a vacation for weeks, drilling down to the most minute detail so that every second of every day can be chocked full of activity. That's what I do every day as it is, so I have no interest in repeating that pattern when I'm trying to unwind. Recently, I took a vacation, and as I usually do, I chose a place on the map that I was not all that familiar with, as those are the best places to wander around and see where things lead. For this trip, I chose Massachusetts. I had been to Boston a few times for work, but nowhere else in the Bay State, so I wanted to learn more about this place. All I wanted to do in terms of planning was have a resource available to me that would help me find Massachusetts hotel rooms when I needed one.

I pulled out my phone and searched for a hotel app, particularly one that would help me find hotels at the last minute. I found HotelTonight, and I downloaded it within minutes. I really liked the results returned for Massachusetts hotels, and the information provided for them was quite useful, specifically all of the user reviews that helped me pick a place. I knew I'd be in Boston my first night there, so I booked a Boston hotel room within a few swipes. It was so simple it was hard to believe. I was comfortable that I had what I needed now. All I wanted to do at this point was some research on Massachusetts in hopes that I'd find some tidbits and fun facts about it that would inspire me while I was on my journey.

Massachusetts and the Paper House

I heard about this strange attraction known as the Paper House in Rockport, and this was something I simply had to see for myself. I drove out there and yes, there is something called the Paper House there and yes, you can take a tour of it. It seems that back in 1922, a man decided to build a summer home out of newspaper, and somehow he succeeded. Everything in the house, including a piano, furniture and the like are all made of paper. It's incredible to see, as it looks just like a normal home from a distance and even in close.

Massachusetts and Dunkin' Donuts

I absolutely love donuts, to the point where I usually have to discipline myself not to eat too many when they are around. Dunkin' Donuts has always been one of my favorites, and that meant that I needed to make a trip to Quincy to see the original store. It's still there, where it initially opened its doors in 1950. Back then, a cup of coffee was a dime, and when you walk in you can still see how things basically looked nearly 70 years ago. Obviously, the brand has exploded across the country during this time.

Massachusetts and the Computer

Computers are everywhere these days in some form, and it's to the point where millions of people in the United States alone have no idea what it's like to live without one. As I was touring Boston and spending time in all of the world-renowned universities here, I learned that the first computer was invented in 1928 at, surprise, MIT. I actually saw it, and it looked sort of like a typewriter that had merged with a printing press. Who knew back then what that invention would morph into, which was nothing more than a universe-changing device.

Massachusetts and Invented Sports

Massachusetts is a place that people associate with baseball, and for good reason given the presence of the beloved Boston Red Sox. However, two other sports were invented here. Basketball was invented by Dr. James Naismith in Springfield in 1891, and it's since become a global game. Speaking of global games, volleyball was invented four years later in Holyoke, Massachusetts by a man named William Morgan. This seems appropriate, as one of the things you notice as you travel around Massachusetts is that its culture is very closely tied to sports of all different types.

HotelTonight – Massachusetts Hotels in Seconds

As I headed back to the airport to catch my flight home, I lamented the fact that my trip was coming to an end. I also began to appreciate all that I had seen and learned while I was in the Bay State. There is so much history here that I will need to come back someday and spend more time here. When I do, I will certainly travel with my new favorite companion, HotelTonight. This powerful app helped me find Massachusetts hotels whenever I needed them, and I was grateful for that.
