HotelTonight – Kearney, NE Hotels Just for You
I have driven across Nebraska on Interstate 80 more times than I could ever count over the course of the past 10 years. I'm a traveling salesperson, so I'm used to driving and definitely familiar with certain stretches of road that I'm on constantly. Interstate 80 gives me an opportunity to sit back and enjoy the peaceful farmlands that surround the road. It allows me to avoid worrying about things like traffic. It gives me the chance to think about a lot of things and to catch up on some books on tape and the like. During my last drive between Omaha and Denver, I realized that despite all the times I had driven this route over the years, I had never really stopped to take a look at any of the communities that sit between those two places. As luck would have it, my meetings for later that day were canceled, so all of a sudden I had 24 hours at my disposal. I decided to stop right there, as I was near the city of Kearney, Nebraska. I wasn't worried about finding a Kearney hotel room that night, as I had HotelTonight with me.
It's easy to think of Nebraska as nothing but cornfields and farms, but there is a lot more going on than that. I didn't realize it until I stopped to take a look. There was a really nice hiking trail near town, so I grabbed my shoes and jumped out onto it. The trail was covered in trees and it ran along a lake, so there was a lot of different wildlife to take in and a lot of different nature scenes that I attempted to capture with the camera on my phone.
The Farmer's Market
I didn't know it until I got to town, but I was there on a Wednesday in June, which meant that I happened to be in Kearney for the farmer's market. I was excited to see a farmer's market in the middle of farm country and was not disappointed. There were tables as far as the eye could see filled with some of the biggest and freshest looking produce I had ever been around. I bought a few apples and munched them along with some delicious baked goods. This was a happy and happening place that drew a lot of people.
Some of the people I spoke to at the farmer's market told me about a barbecue joint in town that was drawing people in from far and wide. When I got there, I smelled why – you could smell the smoke from down the road. The place looked like something out of the Old West, and the food was worthy of that label. I had the brisket, and it was not only juicy and tender, but it was incredibly tasty. I had a nice beer to go with it and enjoyed a great meal.
HotelTonight – Kearney, NE Hotels in Seconds
I was full and tired, so it was time to find a place to sleep. I opened my HotelTonight app and booked a Kearney, NE hotel room in seconds. It was just up the road, so within 15 minutes I'd be in my bed, happy that I took the time to see one of these lovely communities.
