HotelTonight – Oklahoma Hotels Are Ready

I wanted to do something different for my vacation earlier this year. I don't mean in terms of how I traveled, as I always do that the same way. I leave my laptop and my tablet at home. I bring my phone with me just in case I need to use it for some reason, but I absolutely avoid anything even resembling schedules, itineraries, meeting requests or the like. I am not on a schedule while on vacation. No, that would remain the same. Instead, I wanted to do something different with regards to where I was going. I had never seen Oklahoma or that part of the country. I wanted to, so I thought about what I'd need to visit there. Some clothes, a vehicle and lodging. I decided to look for an app that would help me find an Oklahoma hotel room if I needed one.

I pulled out my phone and found an app called HotelTonight. It took only minutes to download it and activate an account. In searching for Oklahoma hotel rooms, I found that there were several from which to choose, and the information on each was quite useful. I also noticed that the hotels were all of high quality. I knew I'd be in Oklahoma City on my first night there, as I wasn't landing until late, so I booked a hotel room in Oklahoma City in a matter of seconds. I could not believe how easy that was. While I was there, all I'd need is a connection with my phone and I'd be able to search for nearby hotels instantly. I was all set. All that was left was to do some quick research on fun facts about Oklahoma, as these would inspire me to go see certain things.

Oklahoma and Legendary Blown Glass

Oklahoma City is quite a place. It's modern, but it seems to have hung onto those traditional values and attitudes that make it such a fun and friendly place to visit. It's also home to quite a bit of culture. I spent some time at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art, not really sure of what I was going to see. What I saw was the largest collection of Chihuly glass in the world. I've always been a sucker for blown glass, and David Chihuly is the master of this form of art. I spent hours there just gawking at all of this beauty.

Oklahoma and Unique Cuisine

Oklahoma is also known for its incredible barbecue, and if I lived there I'm sure I'd be 100 pounds heavier than I am right now. I also got to try something unique at a local restaurant in Oklahoma City. I got to enjoy lamb fries. I didn't know it until they were served over the guffaws of the locals in the place, but these are lamb testicles, deep-fried in batter. Not to be shamed as the soft out-of-towner, I took my first bite and was surprised at how delicious they were. It's basically deep-fried lamb, and I ate the entire order happily.

Oklahoma and Its… Shorelines?

One thing you definitely don't think of when you visit Oklahoma is its beaches. It's almost directly in the middle of the United States and there are no Great Lakes here. However, Oklahoma is home to more than 55,000 miles of shoreline across the state. To put that in perspective, that's more than the Atlantic and Gulf coasts combined. That's due to the 167,000 miles of rivers and streams in the state as well as the 1,400 square miles of water area comprised of lakes and ponds. Oklahoma is actually a water-filled state in some regards.

Oklahoma and Its… Forests?

After finding out that Oklahoma was so filled with water, I was just about ready for any other tidbits to come my way. I stumbled upon one as I was driving across the state. I noticed that I passed through or along a lot of forest land. Once again, this is not something you think of when you think of Oklahoma. I found out that nearly 25 percent of the entire state is covered by forest, which was about 24 percent more than I would have guessed before I arrived. The ones I saw and the one that I hiked were extraordinarily beautiful.

HotelTonight – Oklahoma Hotels in Seconds

As I made my way back to the airport for my flight home, I reflected on the vacation I had just enjoyed. I had seen a lot, eaten a lot and learned a lot. I had also met some incredibly nice people. Thanks to my new favorite travel app, HotelTonight, I was also able to find an Oklahoma hotel room when I needed one. I looked forward to telling people about my trip to Oklahoma and about the help that HotelTonight provided.
