HotelTonight – Book The Perfect Hotel in Monroeville Pittsburgh

As a suburb of Pittsburgh, Monroeville doesn't tend to attract many tourists. For me, that makes for an ideal place to stay while traveling, since I like to stay in areas that are inhabited by more locals than out-of-towners. Plus, I quickly found that there are many things to do in and around Monroeville, so it ended up being the perfect home base for my quick Pittsburgh getaway. Like I always do when I travel, I used HotelTonight to find a great hotel, and within minutes on HotelTonight's app, I had booked a great Monroeville hotel in Pittsburgh. HotelTonight has exponentially simplified my travel planning, as I can book a great hotel in just a few quick clicks on my computer. After dropping off my bags at my Monroeville hotel, I ventured out into the neighborhood to explore this local gem for myself.

The Mall

Pittsburgh locals from all over the city travel to Monroeville to get their shopping fix. Monroeville is home to one of the biggest malls not just in the city, but also in the entire state, and at over one million square feet, the Monroeville Mall is certainly an impressive place to shop. I spent an entire afternoon wandering through this mall, which has an incredible variety of stores, restaurants and entertainment options. Whether you're looking for a gift for someone back home or a tasty meal, you'll be able to find what you need at the Monroeville Mall.

Family-Friendly Museums

Monroeville is a perfect place for an outing with the kiddos, because this neighborhood and its surrounding areas have great entertainment options for families. Some of the museums that kids love in this area include the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh, the Toonseum and the Western Pennsylvania Sports Museum. In addition, the Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium is just a short drive away, so there are plenty of activities to keep your kids entertained in Monroeville.

Boyce Park

If you're in the mood for a bit of nature and greenery, you're in luck – Monroeville has plenty. Since Monroeville is a bit out of the urban heart of Pittsburgh, there are many expansive green spaces to enjoy, such as Boyce Park. This park is enormous, so you likely won't be able to explore it all in one outing, but it's definitely worth a visit. Not only are there typical park offerings, like hiking trails, ball fields and tennis courts, but Boyce Park also offers more unique attractions, such as a wave pool, an arboretum and a downhill skiing course.
