HotelTonight – Book Your North Houston Hotel Today

Houston is a diverse, exciting city comprised of many unique neighborhoods, which is why you can't see all of Houston in just one trip. Fortunately, I was still able to get a great feel for this sprawling Texas city during my last trip to Houston, mainly because I focused on exploring the city like a local rather than a tourist. Thanks to some friendly locals (and you'll find plenty here in Houston!) and HotelTonight, I was able to have an unforgettable, spontaneous weekend in Houston. When I decided that I wanted to spend my time away from the hubbub of downtown and instead explore the quieter nature oasis of North Houston, I simply pulled out my HotelTonight app and booked a last-minute hotel in North Houston in just a couple of minutes. Then I was ready to experience North Houston like a local.

The Race Track

I love some good entertainment, and so do Houston locals, apparently. This city is full of great entertainment spots, like the Sam Houston Race Park in North Houston. This famous horse racing venue is a hot spot for locals during the race season, but even in the off season it hosts great entertainment events, like live concerts and festivals. If you're lucky enough to be in North Houston during the horse racing season, consider joining the locals at the track.

Nature Parks

The northern neighborhoods of Houston are known for their greenery and their open, untouched natural landscapes, which is why this area is one of the most attractive neighborhoods for locals. There are many beautiful parks and nature preserves in North Houston, such as the George Mitchell Nature Preserve. Since I was only in Houston for a couple of days, I didn't have the chance to visit all of the public parks and nature preserves I wanted to, but I did get a great feel for the beautiful, forested areas in North Houston. If you like hiking, running or mountain biking, you should get out of downtown Houston and head to parks in the north like the Keith-Weiss Park and the Greens Bayou Wetlands Mitigation Bank.

Planned Communities

North Houston is home to many master planned communities that are beloved by their residents. These suburbs feature beautiful homes, fantastic community amenities and stunning landscaping, which is why so many Houston locals choose to live in comfort and luxury in master planned communities rather than in the heart of the city. I decided to explore a handful of planned communities in North Houston, including Kingwood, Harmony and the Lakes at Creekside. These neighborhoods provide a completely different atmosphere and culture than central Houston, so they're well worth visiting.

HotelTonight – North Houston Hotels Available

Even though I didn't feel like I really had enough time to explore all of North Houston during my short visit, I was able to get a great feel for the daily local life in this popular area of Houston. Plus, I know I'll be able to see more of Houston in the future, because I can always plan a spontaneous trip to this vibrant Texas city thanks to HotelTonight, which helps me book great hotels at a moment's notice.
