HotelTonight – Capitol Hill Seattle Hotels in a Few Swipes

Seattle is a city that tends to prompt a reaction in just about everyone who has ever been there, and it's almost always an extremely positive reaction. That's because this is a unique community that has a bit of something for everyone. I have been making a point of getting to know the area as well as possible. Whenever the opportunity has arisen, I've done what I could to squeeze in an extra day there. I travel a lot for work, and at times that means I'm in Seattle for meetings. I've been booking my return flight from there for 24 hours after my work was done lately, and I've been using that time to explore a new neighborhood. Doing things this way allows you to really get to know a part of town without feeling any time constraints. Before my last trip, I decided that I was going to explore Capitol Hill. I wasn't worried about finding a place to stay, as I use the HotelTonight app. I'd be able to find a Capitol Hill Seattle hotel within seconds when I was ready to check in somewhere.

The Interesting History

One of the first things I experienced when I got there for my day of exploration was an informal history lesson. I asked a local at a cafe why it was called Capitol Hill, and she told me that before World War II, this was the political center of the state and it was a very high-end neighborhood. After the war, developers built apartments and the overall demographics of the area changed. Regardless, the actual capitol building is still in Olympia, but it was never located here.

The Music

There was a time not too long ago when Seattle was considered the musical epicenter of the world, and a lot of that had to do with what happens in Capitol Hill. There are performance venues all over the place here, and there are also quite a few funky and interesting record stores. You'd think this would be a struggling industry, but not here. I walked through a few of them and they were filled with music aficionados. I even took a photo of a Jimi Hendrix statue, as he got his start here way back when before he became an icon.

The Parks

While Seattle is known for its beautiful landscape, I never thought of the neighborhoods in the city as being very green. I was completely wrong about that with regards to Capitol Hill. I spent several hours walking through at least three different parks and an arboretum, and I must've all but filled my phone with the gorgeous nature photos that I took that at least attempted to capture what it's like to live in such a beautiful place.

HotelTonight – Capitol Hill Seattle Hotels in Seconds

After all of that walking around and talking to people, I realized that I was tired and ready to put my feet up before going to sleep. I opened the HotelTonight app on my phone and found a Capitol Hill Seattle hotel room immediately. I booked it in a couple of swipes and happily headed that way, ready to relax.
