HotelTonight – Midtown Nashville Hotels

When people think of Nashville, Tennessee, they tend to think of certain things that include the Grand Ole Opry, downtown and the country music scene in general. These are all wonderful things and all are reasons in themselves to visit this beautiful city. I have spent my share of time in this part of town and always enjoyed myself thoroughly. However, I've also wanted to learn more about what life was actually like here, and as great as the tourist part of the city is you won't get that feel there as it's always filled with more visitors than locals. I wanted to know Nashville on a deeper level, so I promised myself one day that if I ever got the opportunity, I'd spend time there visiting neighborhoods. I recently got that chance. My connecting flight in Nashville was canceled, so I had 24 hours to kill in the Music City. I decided that I'd spend those 24 hours exploring Midtown Nashville. I wasn't concerned about finding a place to stay, either, as I have the HotelTonight app. It would find me a Midtown Nashville hotel in seconds when I was ready to get some sleep.

The Feel

I experienced a certain feel as soon as I got to Midtown Nashville, and that feel was different--not better, but different--than what I felt in downtown Nashville. There was more of a laid-back vibe here as opposed to the high-energy, go-all-night attitude of the tourist centers. There were obviously more locals out and about here than there were visitors, and it felt more like a community of people that tend to know each other as opposed to a place where people gather from all over the United States and the rest of the world.

The Food

Midtown Nashville is a foodie paradise. That was good in a way because I like choices, but also almost a negative because I was starving and everything looked really good. I was having a hard time making a decision. A nice lady told me about a spicy chicken place that was a local legend, so I finally went there. I'm glad I did. The chicken was in fact spicy but delicious, and the sides that included greens and other traditional southern dishes complimented the main course perfectly. They also served me a beer that fit nicely with the flavors.

The Nightlife

Just because Midtown Nashville was more of a local community than other parts of town doesn't mean that they roll up the sidewalks as soon as the sun goes down. There is a thriving nightlife scene here, and I went out for a bit after dinner and enjoyed some live music and delightful conversations with people who lived there. I found that they like to do the same things that tourists do, but they prefer to do it a bit closer to home and with people they know. It was an extremely enjoyable evening and I felt completely welcome.
