HotelTonight – Palm Heights San Antonio Hotels

There are many reasons why San Antonio locals love their city--it has a great arts scene, features many historic treasures, home to mouthwatering Tex-Mex and offers countless great neighborhoods for families. One of the most desirable residential neighborhoods in San Antonio is Palm Heights, a suburb located southwest of downtown San Antonio. During my recent trip to San Antonio, I wanted to get out of the urban center of the city so that I could explore locally beloved areas that tourists never see, so I chose to spend a couple of days in Palm Heights. To book my hotel near Palm Heights San Antonio, I simply pulled up the HotelTonight app on my phone. After a few taps and scrolls, I had booked a charming hotel in this San Antonio neighborhood and was ready to get a glimpse of an authentic local side of San Antonio.

The Park

In my opinion, every great residential neighborhood should have a spacious, welcoming park that its residents can enjoy. Palm Heights has one of the best public parks in this area of San Antonio, and its residents certainly take advantage of Palm Heights Park. This park's roots trace back to 1910, and it has been the heart of the neighborhood ever since. Today, this 1.72-acre park features a football field, tennis courts, volleyball courts, basketball courts, and more, so it's no wonder why locals love Palm Heights so much.

The River

The San Antonio River winds through many neighborhoods throughout the city, so naturally it's an important part of the city's layout and recreation. While some sections of the river are lined with the popular waterfront River Walk, many other sections are undeveloped, providing great spaces to get out and enjoy the beauty of nature. During my stay in San Antonio, I found a great place to walk along the picturesque river near Padre Park, and this is an area I'd revisit frequently if I were actually a San Antonio local.

Mission San Jose

The San Jose Mission is the largest of all the missions, and it's a must-see for visitors who want to understand the history of this region. Founded in 1720, the San Jose Mission was essential to the development of San Antonio, and it's a fascinating site to visit if you're interested in the history of how much of the West was settled.
