HotelTonight – East Town Milwaukee Hotels for the Taking

There are certain geographic borders in Milwaukee that lend themselves well to the distinctions between so many of the unique neighborhoods that are there. Milwaukee sits on the shores of Lake Michigan to its east, but there's also the Milwaukee River that runs north and south a few miles inland. I have always enjoyed Milwaukee immensely and take an extra day for myself when I'm there for work to explore a part of town I have yet to experience. My most recent trip led me to choose East Town as my destination, and I could not wait to explore that part of this interesting city. All I had to do was find a place to stay that night, but that was the least of my concerns. I had my HotelTonight app on my phone, so I was certain I'd be able to find an East Town Milwaukee hotel room within seconds when it got to be that time.

The Live Music

I don't ever walk into a new community and expect to feel as though I've been greeted by live music. That's not the sort of thing that happens to me. That is, however, what it seemed like when I walked into East Town Milwaukee. That's because I walked right by Cathedral Square Park, one of the iconic parks in Milwaukee. They have Jazz in the Park there regularly, and that's what was happening there that day. There was a crowd of people all enjoying the music and chatting with each other, making the most of their time together. It set a really nice tone for the day.

The Architecture

When you walk around in Milwaukee, you feel as though you could easily be walking around in some sort of European city. That's because the architecture here reminds me of places that I've been in Europe. I noticed how on seemingly every block there were old brick buildings that had to have been there for at least 100 years standing right next to buildings that may not have been standing for more than 100 weeks. The only odd part about it was that everything fit together so seamlessly that you wouldn't even notice unless you were focused on it, which I was.

The Pubs

There was another aspect to East Town Milwaukee that had me thinking of European cities, and that was that there were pubs every few blocks throughout the neighborhood. This reminded me of the bier halls in Germany, and I walked through a few of them for a drink and a snack during the day. These were your old, classic taverns with comfortable stools, bit televisions and not a lot of noise in the background that allowed you to talk to folks who were there. I had several nice conversations on my little tour.

HotelTonight – East Town Milwaukee Hotels at the Ready

At the end of the day, I was happy but exhausted. I decided to call it a night by opening my HotelTonight app on my phone. I found an East Town Milwaukee hotel room just up the block from where my car was parked within seconds, so I happily made my way there, reflecting on how much fun I had here.
