HotelTonight – Automobile Alley Oklahoma City Hotels

Located in the northeastern area of downtown Oklahoma City, Automobile Alley is a trendy, upscale area that has experienced a major revitalization in recent years. This historic district was once home to over 50 car dealerships in the 1920s and '30s, and it went through a long period of decline in the second half of the 20th century. Fortunately, this historic district didn't turn into a ghost town, because Oklahoma City residents poured love and creativity into its old red brick buildings and wide streets. Now, Automobile Alley is one of the hippest neighborhoods in the city, and Oklahoma City locals head to Automobile Alley when they're looking for some great food, shopping and historical charm. During my recent trip to Oklahoma City, I was lucky enough to find a great hotel near Automobile Alley thanks to HotelTonight, which always helps me find awesome last-minute deals on hotels no matter where I travel. After checking into my Oklahoma City hotel, I headed out to explore this historic district on foot.

Hip Restaurants

Without a doubt, one of the biggest attractions of Automobile Alley is its vibrant food scene. This is where Oklahoma City's foodies come to indulge in craft cocktails, delicious food and hip atmospheres. There's something for every palette in Automobile Alley, so whether you're searching for a trendy coffee shop or an upscale steakhouse, you'll love the restaurant and bar options in Automobile Alley.

Historic Buildings

Automobile Alley has a rich history, and you will notice this history around every corner when you walk through the neighborhood. You'll see historic plaques, vintage lampposts and bright neon signage throughout the streets of Automobile Alley. This area is on the National Historic Register of neighborhoods, after all, so it holds a special place in the hearts of locals. If you want to take a step back in time, just stroll down North Broadway Avenue at night and soak in the small town, 1930s charm of this postcard-worthy street.

Flat Iron District

This historic area in Automobile Alley boasts several buildings that were constructed in the flatiron architectural style, and now Oklahoma City has big plans for the area. After wandering past the old flatiron buildings, I could sense an exciting change was imminent for the neighborhood, as cool shops and coveted living spaces were popping up all over the "Triangle" neighborhood. It's certainly an interesting place for a stroll--especially if you love old architecture--and it's well worth a visit if you find yourself in Automobile Alley.
