HotelTonight – Deep Deuce Oklahoma City Hotels Available

Every Oklahoma City local knows of Deep Deuce's rich history. As a vibrant African-American community during the 1920s and '30s, Deep Deuce was home to some of the greatest African-American artists in the country, from jazz legend Charlie Christian to famed author Ralph Ellison. This vibrant neighborhood faded over the decades, but you can still find glimpses of the historical charm and cultural legacy throughout the Deep Deuce today. Given its rich history, I knew I wanted to spend a significant amount of time exploring the Deep Deuce--also known as the "Deep Second"--during my stay in Oklahoma City, so I decided to stay in the area. To find a great hotel near the Deep Deuce, I simply checked out HotelTonight, which has become my go-to resource for booking hotels because it makes planning trips so simple. After checking into my hotel, I headed out to explore the eclectic streets of the legendary Deep Deuce.

Live Music

The Deep Deuce was once a major hub of American jazz, and it was home to jazz legends like Jimmy Rushing and Charlie Christian. Unfortunately, you can't step back in time to the 1920s to see Deep Deuce's jazz scene during its heyday, but you can still experience great live jazz at a number of venues throughout the neighborhood. Jazz will always be a part of Deep Deuce's identity, so you can't visit this neighborhood without experiencing some live jazz music.

And if you want to get the full experience of the Deep Deuce, pop into a restaurant that offers live music so that you can enjoy great food and great jazz at the same time.
